Your website is up and running and you are getting traffic but are you achieving what you want on your site? What are your goals?  What do you want visitors to do on your site? Perhaps you want to grow your mailing list, increase your social media presence or get someone to fill out a contact form – that’s where call-to-actions come in. One of the best things about WordPress are the plugins and luckily there are a tun of great call-to-action plugins for WordPress to help you achieve your goals and most are 100% free. I’ve put together a list of 23 call-to-action plugins that run the gamut of goals and types that can be installed on your self-hosted WordPress site. Enjoy….  

1. Scroll Triggered Boxes – FREE 

Scroll Trigger Boxes Scroll Triggered Boxes allows you to create call to action boxes with content created by shortcodes, links, custom HTML (also integrates with MailChimp with MailChimp for WP). Position boxes on any corner of the page or in the center.  

2. Dreamgrow Scroll Triggered Boxes – FREE

Dreamgrow Scroll Triggered Boxes Another scroll triggered box that is fully customizable to capture newsletter sign-up, facebook likes, social bookmarking or something else you want to draw attention.  

3. Click to Tweet – FREE

Click To Tweet This is the plugin that I used on this site after my posts. The Click to tweet plugin allows you to create custom tweets that visitors can send to twitter with a simple click!

 

4. Hello Bar – FREE & PREMIUM

Hello Bar Plugin One of the earliest tools and maybe the most popular FREE call-to-action action tool is the Hello Bar. Hello Bar lets you create not only a top bar, modal pop-up, full page call-to-action or  triggered slider box. Just sign up on their site, create your call-to-action then download the WordPress plugin and upload it to your site. Without any further setup on WordPress, your call to action is added to your site! Options include: driving traffic to a page (text and a link), newsletter subscriptions (integration with mailchimp and others) and social media links. Hello Bar also provides with simple A/B testing.  

5. MailChimp Top Bar – FREE

Mailchimp Top Bar MailChimp Top Bar is a extension for the popular MailChimp for WP plugin that integrates WordPress with Mail Chimp. The bar can be added to the top or bottom of your site with options for background colour and button colour.  

6. Top Bar – FREE

Top Bar WordPress Plugin The Top Bar plugin for WordPress lets you add text and linked button to the top of your page to drive visitors to page. The premium version lets you choose timing, user restrictions and other colours  

7. Mango Buttons – FREE

Mango Buttons With this plugin, you can add buttons in your pages or posts with text and icon to grab attention and get visitors to take action.  

8. Easy Responsive Shortcodes – FREE

Easy Responsive Shortcodes Included in the list of shortcodes of this plugin, is a call-to-action shortcode. This shortcode allows you to create a bounding box with text and a link that you can add to your post content or sidebar.  

9. Snippets WordPress Plugin – $13

Snippets WordPress Plugin If you want to use the same call to action at the bottom of your posts then you can use this plugin to create “snippets”.

 

10. Share Buttons by Add to Any – FREE

Share Buttons By Add To Any The AddToAny plugin has one of the most extensive list of social media share functions with over 100 services. Activated the plugin on WordPress lets you choose where you’d like to place your share function.

 

11. Simple Share Buttons Adder – FREE

Simple Share Buttons Adder A highly rated social share plugin that gives you a tun of options (especially with design)! With this WordPress social share plugin, you can customize the share buttons with your own colour, text or even upload your own cute icons.

 

12. WordPress Calls to Action – FREE

Wordpress Calls To Action This is a sophisticated plugin that gives you the ability to monitor and track conversion rates, run A/B or multivariate split tests on calls to actions. You can create a popup or use their widget to place the call-to-action on your sidebar. The free version includes lots of templates and ability to use your own design then integrations into popular email apps are an additional cost.  

13. Image Widget – FREE

Image Widget Don’t count out the effectiveness of great design. A linked banner images on your sidebar can be a great way to lead visitors to take action. You can create your banner with Photoshop, PicMonkey, Canva or text on photo app (Quipo or Over). Link the image to page or even your newsletter subscribe page hosted by MailChimp, Constant Contact or others.  

14. Subscriptions – FREE

Subscriptions Subscribe via email is one of the oldest features on WordPress. Now available with the JetPack plugin, you can add a widget to your sidebar for visitors to be notified via email of new blog posts.  

15. WP Subscribe – FREE

Wp Subscribe Get visitors to subscribe to your mailing list with this sidebar widget that integrates with MailChimp, Aweber and Feedburner.  

16. Ultimate Social Media and Share Icons – FREE 

Ultimate Social Media And Share Icons This plugins shows social media icons in your sidebar so visitors can follow you.

 

17. MailMunch – FREE or Subscription

Mailmunch WordPress Plugin Capture leads with this customizable call-to-action that integrates with MailChimp, Constant Contact, AWeber, GetResponse, Campaign Monitor, InfusionSoft and others. First, you need a free MailMunch account to create your call-to-action (options include a top bar, pop-up/lightbox, sidebar optin or scroll triggered box). To add forms to more than one site, analytics, support and other features there are pay options.

 

18. WP Popup Plugin – FREE

Wp Popup Another WordPress lightbox / popup plugin that entices visitors to subscribe to your mailing list. This plugin gives you tuns of options for when the popup will display and lets you use HTML for total control over design. This WordPress call-to-action plugin Integrates with Aweber, MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, iContact

 

19. PopupAlly – FREE or $97

Popupally WordPress Newsletter Popup This WordPress newsletter subscribe plugin gets great reviews on the WordPress plugin repository because PopupAlly is really easy with customizable templates. The free version lets you create popup forms with exit intent, popup forms after a timed delay or lets you embed your newsletter subscribe form at the bottom of your posts. Free version also works with Aweber, MailChimp, MadMimi, iContact, GetResponse, Infusionsoft, Ontraport, and any other email marketing systems that provides HTML opt-in code. The pro version gives you much more control over design, analytics and gives you 9 different types of call-to-actions (top bar, sidebar, triggered box, etc).  

20. Social Locker – FREE or $24

Social Locker Offer some freebies on your site? Get visitors to share your link on social media in exchange for your free download!  

21. Optin Content Locker – $14

Opt In Content Locker Offer exclusive content on your website to email subscribers. This plugin provides an easy shortcodes to wrap the content you want to “lock” and users can view content once they are confirmed as a newsletter subscriber!

 

22. ChimpMate – WordPress MailChimp Assistant – FREE or $18

Chimpmate WordPress Plugin ChimpMate is a MailChimp based email marketing plugin. Professional and Custom designs. Includes Lightbox, Slider, Widget, Topbar and Subscribe to unlock feature. The ChimpMate Pro version includes more options for design, analytics, A/B testing, social media targeting and other options.  

23. WPCB – Email Optin & CTA Boxes – FREE or Pro

Wpcd Email Option Cta Boxes Last on my list of WordPress call-to-action plugins is the WPCB plugin – last, but definitely no slouch. This plugin lets you create call-to-action boxes that are embeded on the page, popup after a set time, popup on exit and are triggered on scroll. The free version of the plugin gives you analytics, video options and integrations with Feedburner, Get Response, MailChimp, AWeber and MailPoet. There is a pro version for more templates, A/B testing, support and other options.
